Course Description This course is designed to complement and enhance your Spanish/European experience. We will cover the economic history of Spain and the European Union. The course will concentrate on three important historical/economic events: (1) the decline of Spain during the 17th Century; (2) the Spanish Industrial Revolution of the 1960s; and (3) European integration, especially recent strides toward monetary integration.
   
Grading Your grade will be based on class attendance and two exams, the first covering Spanish Economic History and the second covering European Union Economic History. Each exam is worth 40% of your grade, and attendance is worth 20%. See the course schedule for exam dates
   
Attendance Since this course will take place in Madrid and some students might need an incentive to actually attend class, attendance is mandatory and 20% of your course grade will be based on attendance. If you cannot attend class for any reason, please contact the instructor prior to the scheduled class time
