FEDERAL ECONOMICS INTERNSHIP

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) is seeking two economics' majors, to intern in
the Economic Analysis and Information Unit of the Southwest Regional Office (Dallas) in the Fall of 1998.

Selected individuals will receive training on the full range of major BLS programs (CPI, PPI, Employment/Unemployment, etc.) This knowledge will be applied in responding to inquiries -from the general public, academics, other government agencies, and union officials.  As needed, incumbents will serve as research assistants for the Regional Economist.

Applicants should be at the Junior or Senior college level and willing to work 16 hours per week for six semester hours of credit.  Requirements for these positions include basic economics' coursework, computer proficiency (preferably in Win95, Excel, Winword,, and Internet access), strong math and analytical abilities, and effective oral communications skills.  This is an unpaid internship.
