Position Description:

Actuarial - Consultant

Deloitte Consulting's Retirement actuaries assist in designing and evaluating employee benefit programs for
a wide range of clients, with an emphasis on pension and post-retirement medical and insurance plans.  Our
consultants work with client teams to determine the adequacy, funding requirements, and financial impact of
these plans, and ensure compliance with government regulations and financial accounting standards.


A representative sample of a Consultant's job responsibilities and qualifications are provided below:


Responsibilities:


·  Perform actuarial valuations in accordance with IRS regulations and SFAS Nos. 87, 106 & 132

·  Perform data and asset reconciliations, generate individual sample cases, and liability results

·  Prepare preliminary results and reports for funding and financial accounting purposes

·  Prepare government form filings (PBGC and IRS)

·  Prepare or review individual pension benefit calculations

·  Analyze, review, and design pension benefit calculation processes

·  Assist in non-discrimination testing for qualified retirement plans

·  Participate in miscellaneous employee benefits and retirement consulting projects

·  Exposure to clients on a regular basis

·  Assist in new business developments by working with Sr. Consultants, Managers and Principals

·  Participate in Total Rewards engagements outside of the Retirement practice that will broaden overall
   human resources knowledge



Qualifications:

·  Must have 1-2 years of pension administration and/or consulting experience

·  Actuarial exams are a plus, but not required

·  Possess fundamental knowledge of design, funding methods, financing, communication and administration
   of retirement plans

·  Be able to understand client business issues

·  Excellent oral and written communications skills; ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues

·  Ability to work well with other team members, and to provide leadership

** Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Economics, Finance, Math, or related field **

·  Ability to travel and participate on out of town projects
